Program Description
The Ph.D. program in Global Studies provides a unique interdisciplinary degree for the study of globalization, both historic and contemporary, through issues of global concern, including conflict, immigration, human rights, environment, and sustainable development. The degree typically involves a field studies component, mastery of a second language, evidence of potential for academic publications, and the completion of a Ph.D dissertation. As part of an interdisciplinary course of study, students engage with and develop mastery of both humanities and social science scholarship and research approaches. Regional specialization is optional, and students are encouraged to conduct research in more than one geographic space.
